“My New Sassy Girl” starring f(x)’s Victoria starts filming in Busan

It was announced earlier this week that the sequel to the popular Korean romcom My Sassy Girl (2001) is actually a China-Korea co-production between Korea company Shincine and Chinese company Beijing Sky Wheel Media.

The sequel stars Cha Taehyun, one of the two original stars of the 2001 movie, and K-Pop girl group f(x) member Victoria Song, also known as Song Qian (宋茜). Titled My New Sassy Girl (我的新野蠻女友 / 엽기적인 두번째 그녀), the film is expected to be released simultaneously in both Korea and China sometime May 2015.

Cha Taehyun will be reprising his role as Gyeonwoo, while Victoria will be playing a Chinese elementary school friend from Gyeonwoo’s childhood who is often teased for her Korean but eventually becomes his wife. Film production has started in Busan, Korea, as of September 29, 2014.

To commemorate the start of production, Victoria recently posted a photo on her personal Instagram with the movie script.
