After School member Nana has been cast in the Chinese remake of Queen Inhyun’s Man.
The Chinese remake for Korean drama Queen Inhyun’s Man was announced earlier in November, and it has been renamed to Love Weaves Through A Millennium (相愛穿梭千年). The series is expected to air on Hunan Television.
After School’s Nana travelled to Hangzhou yesterday to participate in a press conference for Love Weaves Through A Millennium. It is not yet known what her role will be in the Chinese remake, but media reports have indicated she is happy to be a part of the project, and is greatly anticipating the challenges from being an actress.
The Chinese drama will also feature popular actors Zheng Shuang and Jing Boran in its lead roles. Zheng Shuang is well-known for her lead role in Meteor Shower, the Mainland remake of Japanese TV drama Boys Over Flowers. Jing Boran is a member of boy band duo BOBO but has recently established himself as an up-and-coming actor through movie roles in The Guillotines and The Bullet Vanishes.
Unlike regular Chinese dramas where the entire series is fully completed before airing, China’s Love Weaves Through A Millennium will be filmed in a live-shoot system where future episodes are filmed simultaneously as the series is aired on television. This system will create an unique situation for Hunan TV officials as Chinese dramas usually require complete post-production approval before a series is allowed to be premiered.
Chinese netizens have been less than thrilled about Nana’s casting. “It’s OK to do remakes, but do they really need to cast a Korean actress? Are there no actresses in China?” “Remaking a Korean drama, and casting Korean people to act…” “There are so many actresses in China, why are movies and television dramas looking for Koreans? Dubbing is so strange, it completely takes away from the experience.”
Meanwhile, it has been speculated that three After School members Jooyeon, Jungah, and UEE have secretly graduated from the girl group.
Chinese activities for Korean girl group After School are represented by Yuehua Entertainment, which also manages talents such as Han Geng and UNIQ.
Filming for Love Weaves Through A Millennium starts next month. It is expected the drama will air on Hunan TV in February 2015.
